Burt Horowitz was born in Chicago and is a recent transplant to Santa Barbara, California.  He started his ceramic work in college and over the years has really enjoyed this amazing medium of artistic expression.

Burt, an accomplished traditional potter (bowl, mugs, vases), has over time become more interested in complex texture and structural distortions.  These techniques are now pervasive in most of his works. To read more click here.

His work while often amusing, is also known for conveying and provoking strong emotions.  He is interested in the potential of clay to share provocative messages of truth.  His recent series on "war and peace" was given rave reviews and his work has even been successfully used as a fundraiser for a fellow artist in Kiev, Ukraine.
